ELSA Prague was founded in 1990, shortly after the Velvet Revolution in than-Czechoslovakia. ELSA Prague celebrated its 25th anniversary last year, and during those 25 years it became, through hard work, one of the most active local groups in the entire ELSA network. Situated in the beautiful city of Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, this city provides many opportunities for students from its alma mater, the Charles University, such as lectures with interesting guests, seminars and workshops. For the members it organizes SVs, IVs and many other events.
It is very much sought-after by foreign students for both SVs and STEP traineeships. ELSA Prague also managed to partner up with many interesting subjects, among which are well-known international law firms such as White & Case, not long ago a new partnership with EY was negotiated. Czech law firms, such as BBH, are also partners.
ELSA Czech Republic
Being part of ELSA means working on ourselves and mostly on our practical law knowledge, too. As you might know, there are four local groups in the Czech Republic, which you can find in Brno, Olomouc, Pilsen and Prague.
In recent years, we have successfully hosted KAM and SAM in Prague, or IPM and EMC2 Regional Round in Brno. Also popular are our Summer ELSA Law Schools in Brno on IT Law and in Olomouc on Medical Law. Next year, the ICM as the most important event of the whole ELSA Network is going to be held in Prague.
As far as our national activity is concerned, we have organized a negotiation competition and in cooperation with our general partner Allen & Overy participated in an essay competition, whose participants can win amazing prices. Moreover, we also continue to create an educational platform called ELSA Streaming, where we cooperate with the biggest law firms in the Czech Republic. ELSA Streaming is a site where people can watch educational speeches made by lawyers focused on recent topics related to law. Our next great step in evolving ELSA Czech Republic is to make a strong platform for Job Hunting in law firms, which is called ELSA Career. On this portal you can find offers for work or internships from our partners.
